Make Money Challenge
While getting my copywriting business off the ground in 2007, I struggled to find ways that helped me earn new business without bankrupting the business at the same time. I knew how to write copy and how to promote other businesses, but I wasn’t sure how to do it myself without a huge advertising budget.
Then I found a (now defunct) competition where the creator tried to make money with a brand new business using nothing but her wit and ingenuity. She spent every single day, for 30 days, doing something to promote her new business – selling shirts on CafePress. I loved the idea, and decided to tweak it a bit for my own purposes, as well as my readers over at S101′s Entrepreneurs topic: Make Money Without Spending a Dime Challenge.
There aren’t any hard and fast rules, other than (a) the challenge lasts 30 days, (b) every single day you do something for your business to promote it, attract customers, or otherwise increase your bottom line, and (c) it can’t cost anything financially. You can redo the challenge as often as you’d like; I find that I try to do a 30 day stint every 4-6 months to keep business flowing.
If you’ve decided to take on a 30 day Make Money challenge for your business, feel free to comment and tell us about your business and what you hope to get out of the experience. Don’t forget to calculate your cash flow first, so you know if the challenge successfully earned you more money or not at the end!
